Utterly Ridiculous

RAGE MONTHLY: THE ADVENTURES OF JIZZONA STRAYNGER!

The Adventures of Jizzona Straynger:  The Rage Monthly – August, 2011

Well poodles, we meet again!  How the heck are ya?  I hope July treated you just at well, if not better than it did me.  Overall, minus the rednecks trying to torch my hair with Roman Candles in Chattanooga, TN July 4, I had a great month.

The big event of the Month was San Diego Pride.  I was thinking to myself, the summer series of SoCal Pride is exciting, but gosh is it exhausting!  Of course each Pride celebration has its associated exclusive Pride Parties.  Once again, Bill Hardt did not disappoint.  The notorious Pool Party at the Handlery Hotel featured Twisted Dee, Phil B, and tons of hotties in sexy pool attire.  I swear every year those swimsuits get smaller and smaller!  The Zoo Party, always an exciting event, featured the lavish Prince Poppycock and a lot of animals.  One of the most entertaining performers seen at San Diego Pride this year was Margaret Cho.  Now keep in mind I haven’t seen much of Ms. Cho in recent years, however, she did not disappoint.

Orange County experienced a new event this year that can be summed up by its title alone: Chocolate – The Event.  What an event it was!  Centered on the downtown Anaheim Center Street Promenade, Chocolate – The Event featured two days of tantalizing chocolate indulgences, coffees and wine.  Celebrity guests included Bravo TV’s Chef Emmanuel Delcour of Chef Masters, Alison Arngrim from Little House on the Prairie and Extreme Chef’s Meg Hall from Food Network.  Entertainment was provided by American Idol season 9 Ashley Rodriguez, Adam Lasher Band, and a lavish fashion show hosted by Daniel DiCriscio, the Messiah of Makeover. This event will be back next year, so if you missed it, keep an eye out!

This month we experienced the loss of another musical great.  On July 23, she was found in her apartment in London.  It’s in true loss to the music community around the world, no doubt, but not much of a shock to many including her mother.  While was a sad day for many, I stumbled upon a Facebook page titled, “RIP Amy Winehouse.”  Unintentionally, I sparked a hot debate with this lady, probably from the sticks with a fourth grade vocabulary.  The topic of discussion was centered on whether or not Facebook “death pages,” if you will, were appropriate venues for honoring the dead.  It was my point that when I kick the bucket, I don’t want my friends or family posting my picture with RIP slapped over it and posting memorial page on Facebook.  I’m pretty sure people can leave their memories on my wall, or better yet, get your ass to my FUN-eral and celebrate the life that was.  I said it; I want to put a little fun in my funeral.  And while we’re on the topic, feel free to use one of my wigs as my casket topper.  The conversation is available on my Facebook wall, I know, ironic right?  I’d love to hear what you have to say on the topic so get those e-mails headed my way!

August is here and well, that sadly means it’s almost time to wrap up another great summer.  However, that doesn’t mean we have to wrap up the fun!  Running through Sunday, August 8, the fabulous Chico’s Angels #2 Love Boat Chicas will be featured at the Cavern Club Theater before taking the show to San Diego’s Diversionary Theatre August 12 through August 21.  For more information and tickets, visit their website at chicosangels.tix.com.  For all you Pride freaks out there, we have another pretty amazing Pride for you on August 13.  Back and bigger than ever, Orange County Pride will once again be busting through that Orange Curtain!  This years entertainment include 80’s pop star Stacey Q, Speaker Junkies, and my two favorite singing sisters, the Soul Sisters!  Comedian Ryan Hill will once again be making giggles and Shitting Glitter will be tearing it up (Don’t you just love their name?!)

I think I’ve done enough damage this month!  As always, checkout my website at Jizzona.com for more offensive rambles, the World’s best skincare, and new episodes of The Queer Factor.

XOXO,
